Like its namesake, the Yellow Spot Delias Chardonnay is enchanting. Judges liked it enough at the 2018 USA Wine Ratings competition to name it the "Best Chardonnay" at the entire competition! They also awarded it 90 points and a Gold medal! It's not the first Gold to come home with the Yellow Spot Delias, the New York International Wine Competition also thought it was worthy of a Gold medal! It floats and flutters with effervescent citrus flavors playing off of melon, baking spice, and vanilla. With an easy mouthfeel and pure fruit expression, this wine is great for pairing with fresh, fleshy fish. The creamy texture and subtle buttery characters are offset by hints of oak. We’ve loved it especially with pan seared scallops, fresh salads, and cream based sauces. Let the Yellow Spot Delias 2017 Chardonnay float you away to somewhere a little warmer, and a little quieter.
Australian wine has really come into its own the last few decades. Winemakers have the entire southern quarter of the continent staked out with vineyards covering all different types of soils. Australia’s hot and dry climate requires extremely careful and precise irrigation in order to properly nourish the vines, allowing for just enough water for the fruit to ripen without overwatering the delicate root system of the vineyards. The wines that come from Australia are big, bold, and incredibly enjoyable.
The Yellow Spot Delias Chardonnay is incredibly balanced and perfect for pairing. The wine has hints of nectarine and melon that play across the palate followed by finishing notes of vanilla and spice. One of the winemaker's aims was to make a "pure fruited" Chardonnay, so while there is a subtle butter character it is the fruit that really shines.
